This leaves the user with either the expensive option of buying a brand new computer or upgrading the current one. There is a lot to consider before purchasing any gaming computers, especially factoring in budget versus power. Some people may get a computer designed for casual gaming with plans to use it for other things like business. Others may plan on giving themselves the ultimate gaming experience and put the entire focus of the PC into video game playing, but most people will not buy a computer solely for the purpose of playing games. It would be incredibly cheaper to buy a console system.

Building your own custom gaming computer can be a somewhat cheap alternative to buying a factory made one, however this will also leave everything in your hands. In this case you need the knowledge to properly build the computer and are your own technical support if anything goes wrong.

Deciding on a desktop versus a laptop is also important. The question is whether you want to experience better gaming at home, or receive slightly less performance with the ability to play anywhere on a laptop. Using a laptop computer doesn't necessarily mean the quality will be bad though. It is just a sacrifice of space for parts in order to make the computer accessible anywhere. Laptop computers still perform very well. Some may even include a docking station, which would put the laptop at the same level as a desktop.
